Catfish Fund Raiser A Success

DEAR members would like to thank the public for your support during our catfish fund raiser on Saturday September 11^th.  We had a very good turnout which made our fund raiser a success.  We would also like to thank all the people who helped with the fund raiser.  We could not have done it without you.  Once again we would like to thank the Chamblee’s for the use of their lot.  The location was perfect and the weather was great.

We had Kim and Ernest two of our shelter dogs on display for the public to see. They were dressed with red, white and blue bandanas to show our support for 911.  Many people visited the dogs and the children enjoyed them as well.  We had tee shirts, key rings and marshmallow guns for sale.  The kids really enjoyed learning how to use the marshmallow guns.  Kim and Ernest enjoyed the marshmallows as the kids used the guns to shoot them a treat.

The marshmallow guns are great to teach your dog how to retrieve a treat.  If you would like to purchase one please contact any DEAR member at 252-985-0817. The purchase price for the marshmallow guns are $5.00 each.   We also have more key rings for $3.00 each and tee shirts for $12.00 each. 

We had people visit from Scotland Neck, Enfield, Tarboro, Rocky Mount and other surrounding areas.  We had visitors from Enfield who went out to tour our shelter.  They have decided they want to adopt Chiquita.  Chiquita will be going to her new home in a few weeks.  Watch upcoming articles for her adoption.

We had a donation box out for donations for $1.00 per foot of fence.  We are trying to raise money to put up a fence so our shelter dogs have room to run and play.  Many people donated to the cause.  We appreciate all of you that made donations and all of you that turned out to purchase a fish plate.  We sold catfish and herring plates. 

We plan to have more fund raisers in the future.  We plan on a visitation day at the shelter and socialization day to help socialize the dogs.  Get involved help DEAR have the best dogs in the state.  Pictured are a few pictures from our plate sale.  Until next week take good care of your pets.  Remember they will always need you.
