Pork Chop Plate Sale
DEAR Holds Successful Pork Chop Plate Benefit
By Donna May
SCOTLAND
NECK – (June 15, 2004) DEAR would like to thank the public for all their
support for our first pork chop plate sale fund raiser. It was a great success
thanks to you. We would like to extend a special thank you to Merita, C & J
Foods, and The Freez for food donations. Special thanks also go to Donna
Nalbone, Buddy Letchworth and Pee Wee Hale for their help on June 5th.
If you would like for DEAR to have another pork chop sale in the future and you enjoyed the pork chops please write a letter to the editor of the Commonwealth so that we will know just how much you enjoyed your plates. You may also call our number at 252-826-3550.
We had four dogs on display the day of the sale and are
happy to say that one of the four was adopted out that day. Also, that day a
deputy sheriff
found 3 puppies in the highway with their deceased mother. He brought them to
the shelter where they were immediately checked and fed. They need a loving
home also. One of the 3 puppies is in a foster home being house trained. If
you would be interested in any of our puppies or dogs please contact a DEAR
member or phone us.
You will see pictured some of our most recent dogs and puppies that are up for adoption. Please take the time to come out and visit our shelter. The shelter is located behind Gra Whitehead’s house. Visit our newly updated website also for more information at www.dearnc.org.
We are
also going to put in place a buddy system. If you would like to sponsor a dog
or puppy visit our shelter and pick out the one you would like to sponsor. The
sponsor fee will be a small fee of $10.00 per month. This will help in the
care of the dogs. If the dog that you are sponsoring should get adopted then
you can come out and sponsor another dog. That would be a way you could help
and know that you are making a difference in a dog’s life. If you cannot take a
dog in for adoption then you will have the peace of mind in knowing that you are
taking care of one by your small monthly donation. We appreciate all the help
the public has given through donations of dog food, pens, cash donations and
volunteer work.
